Friday Drama Round Up #74

Ninja's Friday Drama Round Up #74
Jackpot (Korean Drama, New)

Jang Geun Suk's new historical drama about a peasant prince's struggle against the royal prince who grew up with everything handed to him.
I checked out the first two episodes and was pleasantly surprised that my attention was glued to the screen even though our hero only showed his face for the first five minutes during episode one. Lots of political intrigue obviously but this show has so many acting powerhouses in it that its a pure pleasure to watch them in action.

Refresh Man (Taiwanese Drama)
This one keeps getting better and better! The male second lead just showed up so I am hoping we will be in for some fun jealousy shenanigans in the future.
Vampire Detective (Korean Drama, New)
For some reason I expected the show to dive right in with their vampire hero so I was surprised when the show used episode one as a set up for the back story. As you would expect, the show is a bit on the dark side but so far I am liking it and am planning to give it a couple more episodes.

Episode One First Impression: HERE
Revive (Chinese Drama, New)

For those of you who followed The Journey of the Flower and really had a soft spot for
NinaReflection.com
THIS guy then you are in luck. Ma Ke is starring in the new C-drama Revive, a revenge drama that follows the hero's path to become the top actor in the entertainment industry.
 Heavens Promise (Korean Daily)
After waiting for more than 40 episodes, the twins finally meet!!! But of course as the show's synopsis warned the twins were soon separated by death again. There is a twist though so for those of you that had given up on the show (like I did) when the show took FOREVER to get to the revenge plot, it might be time to give it another chance.
Go Goal Fighting (Chinese Drama, New)
Hu Ge's new C-drama! Taking on the role of an eccentric soccer coach this time, Hu Ge's new show looks like a fun cheerful sports drama. I haven't had time to check this one out yet, but is planning to in the next couple days.
Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul Ho or My Lawyer, Mr. Jo (Korean Drama, New)
It has been years since I have watched a Park Shin Yang drama, but I have always liked his acting so I checked this one out purely because he is the hero. Fortunately, Park Shin Yang didn't disappoint and I find Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul Ho to be quite good thus far (episode 2).
Monster (Korean Drama, New)
It has been surprising to see some big names in 50 episode long dramas lately and Kang Ji Hwan is certainly one I didn't expect to see in such a long show but I am obviously not going to complain of see more of Kang Ji Hwan as long as the story is good.

The first two episodes of Monster are spent on the two leads' teenage years when our hero goes from being a chaebol prince to a beggar on the street thanks to his evil uncle that kills his parents. We finally meet the grown up hero (Kang Ji Hwan) during the last two minutes of episode 2, so I am eager to see the next week's episodes.

Ninja's Oldies but Goodies
Beethoven Virus (2008, 18 episodes)

Thanks to Jackpot I was thinking back to all the Jang Geun Suk dramas I have watched and for some strange reason Beethoven Virus was one of the first drama that came to mind. I count this as strange because Jang Geun Suk's character in Beethoven Virus didn't really feel like the hero. Beethoven Virus had three main characters but both Jang Geun Suk and Lee Ji A (heroine) were over shadowed by Kim Myung Min's character as their extremely eccentric mentor.
Still, while this was definitely one of those shows I couldn't figure out who the hero was suppose to be the whole time I obviously took notice enough of Jang Geun Suk to remember this show after all these year.
Synopsis: Two young musicians (Jang Geun Suk and Lee Ji A) holding onto their desire to pursue their dreams are determined to work with a genius conductor to form an orchestra. When the conductor (Kim Myung Min) turns out to be an extremely difficult and demanding person to work with, it becomes a life changing experience for all involved as they struggle to realize their dreams together.
