Eric's new tvN drama! Episode one was a bit slow and confusing for me but by episode two I have grown to love the wacky but very heart warming story.
By the way, it is awesome to see Seo Hyun Jin starting to move out of the second lead territory and getting leading lady roles.
Flower of Prison (Korean Drama, New)
It's been a while since I found a historical drama to follow so I am hoping this one might be a winner. It certainly doesn't hurt that Ko Soo is playing the hero... but of course the plot is the most important consideration! (Cough...)
As you probably can guess from the poster and drama title, the story is actually more focused on our heroine who grows up in a prison and uses her brilliant mind to become a law consultant (of sort) to help those who are powerless.
My Son-in-law's Woman (Korean Daily)
This one is more than half way through but since Mama Ninja has been marathoning this one lately I thought I should bring it up. A story about a man who loses his wife and raises his only child with his mother-in-law but eventually ends up falling in love with another woman...who of course turns out to be the mother-in-law's actual daughter. Yes, pretty makjang premise but the story also has a lot of heart. Check it out if you are in need of a daily.
My Amazing Boyfriend (C-Drama, New)
A new C-drama with My Love From the Star sort of premise but with a very different feel.
Episode 1-3 First Impression: HERE
Xiao Zhang Fu (Chinese Drama, New)
A nona-romance comedy with a very cool heroine who has learned the art of making lemonade out of lemons. Surprisingly funny with a lot of heart. Sekai Ichi Muzukashii Koi (Japanese Drama)
I am a bit behind on this one, but this is one hilarious show with it's strange humor. My favorite character in this whole show is actually the hero's secretary who is more like mother/sister/therapist/butler and is tasked with the difficult mission of helping her boss peruse the heroine.
Favorite scene so far: When the very patient secretary had to explain to the hero how telling the heroine that she looks like a mushroom is not the way to win her affection.
Oldies but Goodies
I was thinking about featuring some of Eric's dramas but alas my mind won't stop thinking about Soulmate (2006) after watching Oh Hae Young Again. I wouldn't say the two drama are too similar other than having a bit of supernatural component in it that reinforce the notion that the two leads are meant for one another but still, the two shows just seems to give off the same vibe. Billed as the K-version of Sex In The City, Soulmate follows a small group of young adults as they tries to find the meaning of love and most of all answer the question "Is there such thing as a soulmate?"
Hmm...that synopsis didn't sound too interesting did it? I guess you just have to trust me that Soulmate was a very thought provoking drama that left a big impression on me. By the way, the music in the show was awesome, so go watch it if not just for the great sound track.
ps. A warning...the ending was not the greatest...but maybe appropriate for the show? So don't get put off by it.
